Genome PT

gent

CBMA is part of the Genome PT Consortium, a distributed genome sequencing and analysis infrastructure integrated in the Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures that are funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the European Structural Funds provided at the national level by the Regional Government Authorities (CCDRs). GenomePT provides sequencing and bioinformatics services for genome projects coordinated by national and international partners, including the national health service, food, pharma, biotech, paper, wine and fishing industries.

VOLATILE - European project

VOLATILE is in line with the circular economy strategy to “reuse and recycle” by reusing the heterogeneous biowaste fraction of municipal waste & sludgy biowaste from food industry and waste water treatment plants and converting these fractions into carbon sources for value-added fermentation strategies such as biopolymers (PHA) for materials application, single cell oil (SCO) for oleochemical industry or long chain omega-3 fatty acids as precursor for bioactive omega-3 derived eicosanoids.

The project will develop an innovative Volatile Fatty Acid Platform (VFAP) based on anaerobic digestion capable to be integrated into existing anaerobic digestion plants. This project has received funding from the European Union?s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 720777.

Here there is a dissemination video about the European project - VOLATILE - from which a work package is being developed in CBMA (in Micro II lab), under the supervision of Professor Célia Pais.

Your like in the video is much appreciated in order for the group to participate in an European Commission CONTEST.
